Well, the passion du jour is preparing for our vegetable garden. I've started several seedlings and am preparing for the delivery of a few live plants.
I've started the following seeds:
Sugar snap peas
Carrots
5 kinds of tomatoes (cherry, roma, Cherokee Purple, and a heritage paste-tomato. Also, one more. I don't remember what type, I've already shared the other half of the packet with someone else. I guess we'll see when they fruit.)
Rapini
Cucumbers
Herbs- Basil, Chamomile, Oregano, Rosemary, spearmint, parsley, lavender and echinacea.
I still have yet to plant St. Johnswort, Sage, Peppermint, dill, tarragon, a cauliflower/broccoli hybrid that makes interesting patterns as it grows, another tomato that I got a sample of, brussels sprout, spinach, lettuce (which apparently you sow right into the ground), garlic and a few flowers. In several weeks, we'll be getting some plants- strawberry, a fig tree, some bulbs of a plant called "lucifer" a purple rose, an ornamental thyme, and seeds for a ground cover.
Overboard? Um... yeah, you betcha. I'm having a hard time not going overboard on WHATEVER comes to mind lately. I think if I don't get my head on straight I'm going to lose it. I think that's the appeal of the garden- productive, orderly, get your hands dirty kind of work that is an outward show that we're getting something done. I hate this stagnating feeling as Charlie searches and searches for work.
Meanwhile, I try to stay focused on my own work. I know blue skies are on the horizon.
